Q3 : I just bought a vehicle that already has Sherlock marking and my insurer is asking me for a certificate to prove this. How can I get one?

R :

You’ll need to go to Lebeau Vitres d’autos, DURO vitres d’autos, or another authorized Sherlock dealer. They will verify the existing codes visible on your vehicle and add any that are missing, then certify that all marking is intact and issue a new certificate in your name. Some fees will apply.

Q5 : Are there advantages if I buy Intensive Antitheft Marking® from Sherlock instead of a different product from another supplier?

R :

Yes, a long list of advantages. First, Sherlock’s Intensive Antitheft Marking® is the only system proven effective by an actuarial study. With Sherlock, the chance of theft is reduced by over 80%, and no other product on the market can make that kind of claim. Sherlock is also the only antitheft product recommended by the APA. Many insurers offer Sherlock users a discount. Ask your agent, then compare the Sherlock discount to those for other antitheft products—you’ll have another good reason to choose Sherlock. With over 30 years of solid experience and expertise that can’t be duplicated, Sherlock Antitheft Marking is the most reputable company in the automotive security business.

Q10 : How come Sherlock employees can’t send a copy of my certificate directly to my insurance agency?

R :

Under Quebec’s Privacy Act, data in personal files cannot be shared with third parties unless the individual who is the subject of the file provides written consent. It takes customers just as long to complete the consent process as it does for them to send their certificate to their insurer, so we prefer to make the process less cumbersome.
